How do you describe that weird chemical taste that’s common in cheap wine?
I’ve been struggling for awhile now to describe that off-putting chemical taste that’s common in bad bad cheap wine. Which I now realize makes it particularly difficult to write a post on said flavor. Doing my best - it is a strong chemical flavor like it’s been industrially processed. I wouldn’t say it’s bitter. It’s almost kind of like old, rotten fruit. It’s definitely more common in whites from what I remember. It’s also been more common in American wines, but that might also just be selection bias. I hope that’s enough to convey my idea, but I can try adding more if not. Thanks for all the help! Dining advice for Chateauneuf-du-pape
Hi everyone! Coming Saturday, my girlfriend and I will be celebrating our anniversary. We have saved a bottle of Chateauneuf (2009) for a while and want to drink it that evening. I really enjoy thinking about solid food/wine combinations. I work in a restaurant that specializes in this so I know a thing or two. The thing with this wine is: it goes incredible with all sorts of meat. The thing with us is: we don't eat meat haha I'm searching for some nice dishes, but I've not yet found anything that really attracted me. Do you guys have an idea or suggestion as of what to prepare come Saturday?
